I have a one year old male ball python and was wondering if I should get him a friend (I m not looking to breed- but I don t care if its male or female). Does any one know if they are social and like having friends or if they prefer to be alone?

my female ball python is 2 feet how old u think she is?

is it worth buying i love snakes.. are they a good snake to buy or should i get another corn snake????

It was pretty thick and long- I was weeding and it slithered past and I almost had a heart attack. I have a ball python- so I m not scared of them- the thing was just so big!
I live in New York so I usually don t see big snakes like that. It was black and large. I know that s really general- but it s New York- we never get anything particularly interesting here.
Any ideas on what it is?

Are ball pythons good starter snakes- and if not please mention some good ones.

P.S. I want a calm friendly snake that dosen t mind being handled and dosen t bite. I know there s a chance of getting bitten by any animal but I heard some snakes are more prone to bitting
I always do research before I get any kind of animal- but I also like getting opinions from real owners just to know what I might be getting into.

I m Also the Owner of

2 Leopard geckos- and a bearded dragon so I have experience with reptiles.

I need to know EVERYTHING about them- my Mom s friend s- friend has a Ball python and she s gonna get rid of him/her or throw him out loose- so I was thinking about adopting him/her. 1 Prob- I m not 100% sure how to take care of 1. I ve had a CornSnake and a Leopard Gecko- and I ve done alot of re-search on Bearded Dragons- So I m not clueless about reptiles.
Also- do you have to feed Ball Pythons live? will they eat frozen? I ve heard they re very picky. How bad is there bite? Because if this Snake hasn t been handled alot I don t want to see my Dad throw out him because it s "Dangerous"- Heat Lamp or Heatmat? Also All the other stuff I need to know.

My ball python is a year old- I used to feed her small mice twice a week as suggested by pet shop. Now recently started to feed her once a week and slightly larger as she hasnt defacated for at least a month now. I gave her baths in the hope she does but nothing works. Please help

how are computer languages such as c- c++- or python made? just curious on how people even made them in the first place.

Well Im in my first year of Computer Science Bachelors Degree and I have about a semester of "class" experience with C++- and about a year of "class" experience in pseudocode as well. Ive wondered upon the Python Programming Language and I want to add it to my programming language. Though I know that the only way to learn it is to practice and to practice I need the tools to do it. So basically I would like to know if there is a IDE for it- or any tools that you may think are easy to use to help me in any matter? And were can I go to learn the basics of the language like- how to declare variables- assignment statements- if there are fors and whiles in it? Basically Im a newb in the language. I just want to know- what you would call the building blocks of the program (base). So I can get started. Thanks for taking the time to read.
about my C++ knowledge- I only know minimum. I know the basics: like declaring variables- if s while s- for s and do while s. I know about one and two dimensional arrays and the basics about records or what you would call in C++ "struct". I dont know anything about "classes or pointers" yet but that s not my concern at the moment because that class Im going to take latter. the header files that I know are <iostream>- <iomanip>- <cctype>- <cmath>- <string>- <fstream>. Also I know about reading and writing to files. Thats pretty much all that I know.

It s a 40 gallon and I know they like to hide- so can I fill the cage with plants and branches? I have a water tank and he loves it- I have hides and stuff but can I fill the tank to make his life interesting?
And if so- what kinds of plants are safe for him?

I just got my ball python a few months ago and the person who owned him before me had him for about 1 year (since he was a baby). He s only 2 feet long and has been in a 20 gallon cage his whole life. I feed him twice/month- and I showed him to my profesor who knows alot about snakes and she said he looked a little overweight. I was wondering if snakes are like some animals where they won t grow very big if their habitat won t allow it. I m planning on moving him into a bigger cage in a month or so- do you think he will grow more (in length) after that? (I think the new cage is 30-40 gallons).
He currently has a branch to climb on- a half hollow log to hide under- a hollow tree thing to climb in and on top of- and a fairly large water dish (which makes his cage look almost too cramped- even though I know they like to hide alot).

How can I insert a variable at the end of a message without that annoying space...

#example:
a = 1
print "My name is jonas"- a
--------------------------------
the computer spits out:
My name is jonas 1
---------------------------------
when i really want:
My name is jonas1

My ball is about 7 mths old and each time before his shed he gets this really dry patch on the side of his head- behind his mouth. I took him to a professional the first time it happened but they just told me to wait and see if it cleared up after his shed. It did and everything was fine for a while but it happened everytime before his shed. Does anyone else have this problem?

I don t mean to take him outside to a public place where he will get stressed. I just mean to take him out for photography purposes. Also- how long is too long to keep him outdoors?

i install python on my phone and then when i install sub propgrames which should work in cunjunction with python dont
they just flick on and then off
can any1 help?

Using pygame- how can i write something from a screen input into a file and read the file information then display the information back on to a screen display? thanks

We have relatives out of Canada ( in the Philippines ). We re starting a petshop business now I won t explain it all- so we have ( were starting small )
sexually mature animals
6 Bearded Dragons
4 iguanas
8 Leopard Gecko s
4 Ball Pythons
4 Burmese Pythons
10 African Lovebirds

Hatchlings

4 baby Ball Pythons
8 Burmese Pythons

Others

Crickets
Lobster Roaches
Pinkie mice
Full grown mice
Campbell Hamsters

So that s bout it
we also have books
we got every thing locked up- were just making sure if this is big enough
We have licenses- sources we have the shop already- we re one of the only real legal petshop in the city- and many love snakes in that city in the Philippines- the lot is pretty big- and we have everything we need.

Can anyone link me some sites or something that will teach me how to use Python- C+- or C? I KNOW NOTHING about programming- but I would like to learn. I also need a C+- and C compilers and the Python program.

I am planning on buying my first snake. Im still deciding which snake to choose. Im pretty tied between a spotted python and a coastal python. I think the spotted would be good because its smaller and it doesnt really have any special lighting or humidity requirements. But i really like the pattern on the coastals and ive heard their temperament is usually really good- i just dont know if i could handle a 2-3m snake. I also have to get my boyfriend use to the idea of having such a large snake around the house
Can anyone link me to sites with good info on Coastals?
Is it better to buy a coastal as a yearling or a hatchie?

I want to know as much as i can before i pick and buy a snake.

i have my python about 5 months now and she was fine and shedding was good so far but last time she shed i think she rubbed herself to the rock too much and hard and got hurt her belly now her belly is red bloody looking and thick skin pieces plealing off close to her tail and she wont eat.. :( what can i do to make her better if any one had a same problem please help i love my python and i dont want her to die ( she is 5 foot) thanks

I just got a baby ball python last sunday. I wanted to pick him up today and it got scared- right. It didn t go into a ball but kind of backed away with his head. I tried to pick him up and this time he went into his den. So I say oh I guess he s scared. Then I close the tank and put the top on. Then I look at him in his tank and he was trying to strike at me. Two times he striked. I wasn t even near him just looking at him. Why was he doing this? Should I be scared of picking him up again? I have hold him three times since I got him. So whats going on?
I fed him a fuzzy an hour after I got him last sunday. He is just a little baby ball python. And I know your only suppose to feed him every week. So I am going to feed him tomorrow in it separate feeding container. So anymore ideas why he did this. I held him three times so far and he has never done this.

Ok my bf and his brother have had a python for many many years. He s currently living at my house (I live with my bf). He hasn t eaten in a whilen and I know he doesn t have to eat a lot- but how long is to long? I think we are verging on to long. I woud feed him myself- but I just can t bring myself to do it. I love the snake as long as he s not touching me.

I m just sick of nagging and would like them to take care of their pet.

OMG....I sould like my mother! lol!

But honestly- I m feeling bad for him (the snake). I think we should give him away- but the boys are not willing to do that.

my ball python is 2 1/2-3mo. old he is very limp- barely moving at all- he seemed to stop breathing for awhile- but he is breathing again right now- im not sure what is wrong with him but im very scared- hes my baby boy:[- can somebody please help me out or give me some ideas?

He s an itty-bitty like 15 inch long
im planning on putting him in a 40 gallon so i wont have to REset-up later.

Also he s very active and not shy

I want to buy a ball python- but I don t want one if it lives for a very long period of time. (I know it usually lives pretty long) I want to know how long one lives in captivity usually. Also- I need to know some snakes that survive for an okay amount of time- (10 years or less is ideal) but are still docile and easy to handle.
Thanks!
Thanks for all the answers guys- I m probably going to get a king/corn snake- or an older ball python! (: I m going to go to college in 6 years- so I was looking for a shorter lived one because I don t know of anyone who could take care of him/her while I was gone. We re going to hang up flyers at our local pet store to see if anyone has a snake that they no longer want for one reason or another. Once again- thanks!!

i have had my ball python for about 2 1/2 years now. he is still very small. and it looks like he has scratched his eye up from going under things when we leave him in the house and out of the tank at times. we feed him enough. 2 mice every 3 weeks- is that not a sufficient amount? and how long will it take him to get bigger? or should i just take him to the vet :(
my poor baby! alright thanks :)

Someone give me a ton of info on Burmese Pythons as well as personal experiences.
I don t want answers like : dont get one- your nuts- etc

I am interested in one that won t get HUGE but decent sized.
I Want a male (females get larger)

I have a columbian red tail who is the biggest sweetheart and will let you grab his face and play with him. never hisses- never tried to bite. A great snake!
He s only about 3 feet long so he s still pretty small.
Also can someone tell me how long/heavy he will get.

Thanks in advance for the info
thanks. by smaller i mean around 12-15 feet. I m not looking for my burmese to reach 30+ (females im guessing)

If my make red tail will get that large then thats awesome. I hope he does.
I m gathering as much info on burmese so that if/when i get one i am a little prepared :)

There was someone with the user name of SNAKE that answered a question about my boa. I wanted to contact them to ask them some more questions about snakes. I am thinking about getting a Burmese python and i wanted to get his input on it and what I would need to know.
please message me
he doesn t allow email or IM
thats why i can t get in touch with him.
is there another way?

how much would a 50 gallon aqarium cost? i want to get a ball python but i want to get all the neccesities first. also- can i get a tank that big at a normal pet store?

is it possible to design a python web application using dreamweaver? i m thinking of using dreamweaver to replace cgi codes..

After lots and lots of research and minimizing my options down to one (which was so hard). I have decided to buy a Antaresia maculosa (Spotted python) for my first pet snake. If anyone has any information- first hand experience or advise please tell me about it. I want to know everything i can about this particular snake so i dont stuff up ^_^

I just bought a baby ball python today. A friend of mine said i have to wait 2-3 days to hold my ball python because its in a new environment. Is he correct? If he isn t how long do i have to wait?

hi i made a hide box for my ball pythons i made it out of oak and a little bit of wood glue is this safe

It s easy if you can use "break"- but you can t.

You have to include a raw_input and a while or for loop.
**Only one loop may be used.**

You can use variables- conditions- raw_inputs- ONE loop- if...else- arithmetic functions ( +- - - *- %)
**You can t use / .

Thanks.

I am planning on buying my first pet snake in the next couple of months. But i am still thoroughly investigating which snake would be the best for me to start off with. Could anyone give me any information on the following:
1. How old until Jungle Capret Pythons get out of thier snappy stage as juveniles.
2. How many times can you handle a jungle a week (personal experience would be great)
3. Are they active playful?
4. What procedure would you recommend to feed a snake?

Just so everyone know s i live in Australia so i cane have corn snakes or ball pythons. We are only aloud native Australian snakes and the Green Tree Snake.
spelling error *i can t have corn snakes or ball pythons*

I will be majoring in computer science. Python is my favorite language- and I wanted to know what they use it for so I can start my studies early. Should I try researching complex numbers? That s one area I don t know too much about yet. I m just not sure what it s good for.

I m keeping my adult Ball in a 55g aquarium. He s got a water bowl on one end and a large hide on the other. Newspaper substrate. I m heating with a 50 W heat lamp on top of the lid (wooden lid with hole for metal grate). It shows just over 80 close to the bottom with lamp on and at night often gets to 70. I know everyone says "don t drop below 75 at night". But these snakes are hardy eh? 70 in early morning/night will be OK?
Should I switch up to 75W for the daytime when the heat is on?
I don t want it to get too hot.

He was caught up in a fight between my mother and I and she forgot to water and feed him when I was gone/ not communicating with her. I feel terrible- trust me.
I just need to know how long it takes for him to be rehydrated- and it be safe to feed him again. Thanks.

i really want a pet snake but i dont know which kind to get?
im thinking a ball python?
Can snakes be like dogs?..u know like know who its owners are?

I just moved and took my ball python with me in the car in his tank. One of my fellow travelers decided that it would be fun to play with him while we drove - and then let him escape into the dashboard of my car. He crawled inside and ended up next to the steering column; we had to disassemble part of the dash to get him out. We did get him out eventually- but it was very hot and I m afraid he s hurt. It was about 80 degrees out but it must have been hotter inside- because he definitely got too hot. He was fairly limp and barely moving when we finally got him free and his skin was very warm to the touch. I immediately got him into a tub of cool water; after one minute he was moving again- and after ten he was feeling well enough to try escaping the tub. He seems to be completely back to normal now- except a bit sluggish. I don t know if he s just exhausted or if there s something more serious I need to worry about. I m so worried about him - your answers are appreciated!

It involves a prince and an ugly princess. Here is the script I know. "I have come to ask for the princesses hand in marriage."
"Just her hand?"
"Why no- All of her."
"Oliver? Who s Oliver?"
"The Princess of course."
"The Princess? Has she changed her name again?"

There is also-
"The princess says No-"
"No?"
"No."
"No?"
"No."
"Well you re no help. STAB!"
"Wound!"
"Stab!"
"Die."

Then that repeats and he finally gets to the princess. Then she reveals herself to be ugly.

Does anyone know this sketch?
Please help!

You really shouldn t own a Cobra they are dangerous and they are ilegal to have in the United States without a special permitt. Buy a Boa or a Python they are less dangerous.

hi i am getting a royal python and will be using a ceramic heat bulb- i was just wondering how i would go about lowering the temps in the viv at night time
thanks

Our ball python hasnt eaten for months and doesnt show any interest in eating. Can anyone tell us something we can do to gain it s urge to eat. or is it possible to give it a raw egg?

I would like to know what I need to do to breed them. such as steps to take- equipment to make or to purchase etc

I am a huge animal lover and can t seem to bring myself to putting that presious little mouse into my snakes feeding box. The look i their terrified eyes is enough to up heave my world. I know that prekilled mice are available but I m wondering if it s totally healthy for Monty (my python) to be neglected of fresh kills. He s only 6 months old so will his never having to restrict his prey mes him up phycologically? Then possbly leading to an unhappy life for him and maybe early death?? I know I;m freaking but I want only the happyest life style for my little ball of joy!

I am looking around Portland- Oregon for a summer job in the general area of computer programming. The problem is- I m not quite sure which jobs I would be able to get and where to find them.

I am a college student (computer science major) going into my junior year. I ve done some web design- but my only serious production level project was a set of relatively simple set of PHP scripts combined with MySQL to manage entries in a county wide contest in Clackamas County. However- I know several languages- though I don t have complete mastery of them. I good knowledge of the mechanics of HTML/CSS- but I m not great when it comes to layouts.

Languages:
Thorough: (X)HTML- CSS
Solid working knowledge: Python- PHP- generic XML
Basic knowledge: C++- Java- JavaScript- bash- SQL

This isn t a classified ad- I m just looking for advice as to what s out there and how to get it.

its a blue light. and the temp. doesnt stay real high- maybe 80 degrees. would it hurt to leave it on all day long? my boyfriend thinks i should just leave it on for 12hrs. what do you think?
i have a heat pad under the tank right under his hut. so thats a warm spot for him. but i have a light as well.

I m having some trouble with Python- and am not sure if I ran in to a bug or not. I have an update() method on a class called Game. The following code doesn t get to the event loop unless I uncomment the print statement. I uncomment print- and it gets there just fine. Everything is tabbed properly- but yahoo answers strips the tabs.

def update(self):
<tab>#print "anything" #then of course it continually prints this.
<tab>for event in pygame.event.get():
<tab><tab>if (event.type == KEYDOWN):
<tab><tab><tab>if pygame.key.name(event.key).upper() == "Q":
<tab><tab><tab><tab>labelPosx += 10

Here are the imports:
import pygame
from pygame.locals import *
import gameEngine

Any help is appreciated. It seems like a bug to me because you shouldn t have to have a print statement to be able to run the event loop.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!!
I ve tried that actually... What I had at one time was:

def update(self):
<tab>#print "anything" #then of course it continually prints this.
<tab>for event in pygame.event.get():
<tab><tab>print "made it here"
<tab><tab>if (event.type == KEYDOWN):
<tab><tab><tab>if pygame.key.name(event.key).upper() == "Q":
<tab><tab><tab><tab>labelPosx += 10

I had a made it here print line inside the event loop. If the first print is commented out- it won t make it to the second print statement. Once I uncomment- it displays both. That s why I was thinking it was a bug.

I m having some trouble with Python- and am not sure if I ran in to a bug or not. I have an update() method on a class called Game. The following code doesn t get to the event loop unless I uncomment the print statement. I uncomment print- and it gets there just fine. do you know any i really want one and im alowed to get one and pet stores rip you off. im lookingg pleaseeee help

I am thinking about getting one and i want to know do they reaslly need all that fancy stuff like the nice water dishes and hide outs.
I was thinking about getting the following
-30 gallon cage
-log hideout
-dissenfected rocks
-using a plastic tuperware as a water bowl
-petstore climbing branch
-100 watt light
How much would this all cost if i got the cage for free or for cheap[thinking about getting it off craigslist]
will my snake be happy and feel fine in his home?
I want to get a baby one. Maybe 6 to 9 months old

I have a 9 month old male albino burmese and he is healthy and isn t skinny but he only likes to eat 1-2 mice every 4-6 weeks- is this normal? And I can t even remember the last time he shed- its been at LEAST 2 months. The humidity is just right and he has a big water bowl to soak in- but I can t figure out what s wrong. Any advise or opinions would help. Thanks in advance.

I have 4 adult ball pythons in a 4 by 2 by 2 vision and was wondering if I should get another vision of the same size and just stack them and separate the 2 males (the males get along great FYI so fighting is not a problem) from the 2 females or have breeding pairs in each? Or should I just keep the 4 in one cage but I think it s kinda crouded. BTW money and space is not a problem- I m just conserned about their health and well being. Please any advise or opinions would help. Thanks in advance.

If i live 1 hour and 54 say 2 hours from Columbia SC where i will be getten my Ball Python is that a bad idea? I mean we will get it and go straight home and bring water for it and everything! I know that will stress it out but is it a bad idea?
I have already read up on them but thanks for you detailed message!! I was just wondering if it was a good idea to travel that far when i get one! Thanks So much!

The breeder gave me a couple small mice (I m not sure exactly what kind) and said that my ball python had been eating those and they were good but I fed him one and Stanley inhaled it down and there really wasn t even a bump in his tummy.

I have two little mice left so next time I feed him (Sunday) I am going to try to give him both of them and if he eats them both I was going to bump up to the next size mouse. Does this seem okay?

He is a year old and just about 2 feet long- what size mouse would this size ball python normally be eating? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know of some good sites that sell fish supplies? I need a 50ft siphon- preferably a python or aqueon- but I m only seeing these siphons for about 45+ dollars. Someone had told me of a site that sells them for about 25- but I can t recall the name. Hopefully someone here knows? :)
The tank is in a basement- that s my problem. Are DIY siphons that you suck on going to work all the way up a flight of stairs?

We have a 10 yr old- 41 inch ball python we adopted from my son s teacher. He ate in January- February- and March but didn t want to eat in April or early May. We have fed him medium rats. How will we know if he is hungry? We kept the rat and now my daughter has grown attached to her and she is too big to feed now. we will have to purchase another. should I go with a small rat this time and see what happens? his temperature is around 80 - having hard time getting it up. humidity is around 45-50%. HELP!!!!

I thought Boas were semi- arboreal snakes...... I have a young boa- his name is Bruno. and this kid is forever under the water bowl or buried under the substrate w/ his head peeped out.... he buries himself more than my ball python. ne way- i need some answers. thanx

Mine s only active 4-6 hours a day- otherwise- he s in his hide cave. Is this normal? He s about 8 months old now (estimate)- and is fed once a week (unless shedding). He shed a week ago- so he s not inactive because of that- although he was in the same spot FOREVER when he was shedding. So- again- is this short activity time normal? Does it increase or decrease with age? What is a good way to keep him more active while maintaining a good health? Thanks in advance.

The snake keeper has some females red axnthic and axanthic for the same price which should i get i like the snake keepers axanthic

I found a clump of two white pebble-like things and a couple smaller brown things in my snake s tank earlier. I know they sometimes have dry urates- but i didnt know it would be so compacted. Assuming this is urate- is it supposed to be like that?

this is the first time that it s ever peed- i think. it ate for the first time last thursday.

the pee is solid white with little yellow spots all in it. is that normal?? my bearded dragon- water dragon and leopard gecko s pee all were just a solid white color- but i ve never had snakes before this.

also- there is no poo attached to the pee- it s just yellow and white pee...

and while i m asking- how long after she s eaten can i handle her without risking her throwing up a dead mouse on me?
the pee is a solid.
i know that they don t like... pee pee like mammals do- but to my understanding- the solid white stuff is still the pee- and the black solid stuff is still the poo...

but this solid white pee has little yellow spots on it. it s like an easter egg. but like... not full of chocolatly yummie goodness.

I ve got Monty Python and the Holy Grail on a copy protected dvd- and i want to be able to put it on my Zune. I don t want to have to buy it again- and I don t plan on abusing it. I know that there is software out there that can be used to do that- but I would prefer to spend as little as possible and put as little as possible on my computer. Can anyone help?

live?
frozen?
pre-killed?

and where do they cell the best PetLand- PetSmart- or Petco???

its for my Ball Python- and which are the best to feed them: live- frozen or dead?& how much do they cost

thanks- sry- lots of question :)

My ball python (the same that was in the accident-read other Q) now is not eating. Its May now- and he hasnt eaten since November! He will stalk the mouse- and he did strike at it once- but then he dropped it- and ignored it. Ive tried several times- and he will stalk it- then ignore it. Can I have suggestions? He does eat thawed mice- btw

When i get it and want to go on a trip for like firday saturday and come home sunday will it be fine?? Or leave out Saturday and come back Sunday?? I mean i know ur supost to change the water regularly and all will that be a prob for not changing it those few days? And im getten a terraium that locks and stuff will it be safe with the cat in the house alone with it? I mean my dog will be at a borader and all!

I thought that ball pythons liked warm- especially after eating- but he spends all his time on the cool side of the tank wrapped around his water dish (the coolest part in his tank.) Even after he ate for the first time here he went to his hot side for a little bit and then back to the cool side and has stayed there since yesterday. Any idea why he is doing this?

He stays on the cool side and when I pick him up (not since he ate yesterday though- since I know you aren t supposed to handle them after they eat) he is cold to the touch. I mean... he is a year old so he should know how to regulate his body heat- right? It isn t that cold on the "cool" side since my apartment is about at 80- could he just be too hot on the other side? The ground temp without the basking light is about 85- with the basking light its 95- this is what the breeder told me to keep him at but is it too hot for him?

Thanks for the help!

; this symbol? to extend an idea?

Does this work?

He was well known for his rolls in The Frost Report and Monty Pythons Flying Circus. In Monty Python he played a wide range of rolls; anything from an army officer holding a fish- to a woman- to a man behind a desk- to a terribly confused Norwegian- to a speculating man trying to get a fish license for his pet fish Eric.

(thats about John Cleese btw : P)

PFFT! I m so stupid semicolen right! Thank You!

please specify episode

It s 18 inches long. I have picked it up only a couple times and it came out of its coil only once. The last time I tried to i picked it up and it tried extending away from me. Then he turned his head- went back to a coil- then his head started extending slowly towards my face. Now I know ball pythons dont usually bite- but it seemed like an aggressive movement to me. I instantly put him back and just watched him. Then- even after me being fearful of him- he went up to the glass and yawned. I think he s good natured but very nervous- and because I ve never been bitten- I m kind of afraid of any aggressive movements. I think once I get bitten I wont care cause I ll know what it feels like. I had a horrible fear of bees until i was 12 when I finally got stung and it didnt hurt bad at all. Thanks for any advice! I m trying to conquer this fear I have and have an awesome snake to chill with around the house in the process.

Hi there-

I want to take my ball python to a vet as i have heard him weazing quite alot and he seems to be yawning more often than usual. I herard this could be a RI.

I heard about this place but dont know if it is any good??

LONDON BARRIER ANIMAL CARE CLINIC 32 HARDENS MANOR WAY CHARLTON LONDON

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Thanx

When i ve got my own house i am going to own:
3 dogs
-Huski
-Bulldog
-German Sheperd
And 1 python.

Right now i have a Black Labrador called Gaffa (named after gaffa tape xD)

do you still need to provide a heat source like a nocturnal light bulb/heating pad for your python at summer? average temperature around 25 - 35 celsius.

I have 500 hours to learn a programming language...
I ve considered Assembly (x86)- Python- Ruby and Java. I ve sampled all 4. Assembly was devilishly tough to learn. I can t find any job opportunities for Assembly programmers either. Ruby was fine- but Ruby on Rails was great. I liked the portability aspect of Java- but the feel of the code wasn t that great. I loved Python though. Real clean syntax and all. It s just not commonly used compared to Java or RoR. What would you suggest?

(I don t want to learn ANY other language- INCLUDING C++- so don t suggest it)
I want to program in my free time. Not as a career option. And yes- I know what Ubuntu is. -_-

SG- C/C++ is NOT an option.

We have already taken everything out of his cage changed the bedding and washed the cage with bleach water (this is upsetting because we have only had the snake and cage for 24 hours) and we let the snake soak in water for about 4 hours and that did not seem to help- because now it is back in it s cage again and we can still see the mites. Please help I dont want the mites to get out of his cage because I have other animals as well in the house.

Even better if they begin with r Think beyond regular people names.

My brother has a ball python and and i take care of it like its my own... i want a snake around 12 feet but one who doesent have teeth i dont want to be sent to the emergency room over my snake... what snake should i get ???/ i already have 2 green iguanas and 2 cats and im breeding mice

i was wondering my two ball pythons will not eat dead mice but will eat live ones.. how can i get them to eat dead mice? I tryed and they just go away from it.. we put a life one in there and there all over it.. i heard feeding them dead mice are better for them cause of the mouse biting the snake. so i would really like to feed them dead ones but i dont want to starve them cause they just turn away from the dead ones.. someone please help...

Below is a picture of Stanley s tank- can someone take a look at it and let me know if it looks okay? His basking light is above his hidey and he wedges himself in the back corner between his hidey and the wall - is this because he doesn t have room to bask? (You can see his reflection in the back left corner).

http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7275/00005xk218428338wj7.jpg

He is a year old and just under 2 ft long. The tank is a 20 long (30x12x12)- he has the two hideys- a water dish and his "jungle gym". I thought that balls like to hide but most of the time he stretches out across the jungle gym and just lays there and if I reach in he crawls right up my arm. He will wedge himself between his hidey and the glass- or his jungle gym and the glass but he rarely hides anywhere.

The substrate is fir bark and he has an UTH on the same side as his light. I got him from a specialized reptile store/breeder and they said he was good- but I want to make sure.

Your opinions?
And since it might make a difference- he is captive bred. He is farm raised and has been handled since he was hatched- which I m guessing is why he is so tame. He has only "balled" up on me twice when I first got him and he never does in his tank.

Can you switch from live to froze mice?
i really cant just put the pet(mouse) and watch python eat it :(

I want to buy one from a pet store- but have been feeding them only live. I cant feed them live mice - its cruel :P

also how does it feel to give you ball a live mouse- dont you feel sorry for mice :D?
and what kind of tank do i need? would 18 18 18 be ok?

sorry- lots of question :DD

Which is more friendly and easier to care for? I found one of each online and they re beautiful- but I can only get one.
I have a ball python so I m used to finickiness. =D
I was thinking about a beautiful black and white king- he s absolutely precious!!! =]

I have two cats- a hamster- and a fish and I m looking to get another pet. My mom will allow me to get one- as long as it "doesn t smell bad!" I m thinking of getting a caged pets. Here is my list: baby ball python- iguana- ferret- hamster- rat- rabbit- or parakeet. Price doesn t matter to me- but I just wanted to know which seems like the best choice. I want to be able to spend a lot of time with it- and play with it- so that is important. Thanks!

i have used python dust but that didnt kill the eggs. please dont tell me to use 7 dust. can you use human lice shampoo on them? or will it hurt them. i read somewhere that you can use cat flea shampoo but im not sure. please answer ASAP
if u dont have expierence please dont answer! im sorry but i need someone who really knows!

They re the same age- but the bp is thicker and the boa is longer.
Would my bp own his boa?
I wasn t gonna put them together lol we were joking around.

When I walk in the room he gets hyper and starts poking around near the top of the cage and when I hold him he squeezes me like crazy! He tries to crawl across my glasses and when I divert his head from somewhere- he just goes right back. Like earlier he tried going down a root beer bottle.
Does he have issues?

My boyfriend says that it is located on the bottom of the mouth on the left or right side. I however think it is directly in the center on the bottom.

If you are not positive your answer is correct please indicate so! (we have a bet)

Thanks
My boyfriend and I recently watched a show about anacondas and retic. pythons and I am almost positive it said that it is located in a different spot than other snakes. I think the difference was that most snakes wind pipe is located in the back of the throat but with the snakes in question it closer to the front of the mouth on the bottom- it is actually visible when there mouth is wide open.

What we disagree on is rather it s located on the side toward the edge of the mouth or directly in the center.

I have a dog and my boyfriend has a cat when i get my ball python will that be a problem??? i mean my dog will listen to me and i most likely wont have the dog out when im hadeling it and i also can put the cat in a carrier as well but will it always have to be that way or just the first couple weeks months when i get it??
Ok but see my dog will be a year old in june and his hyper but does what i tell him mostly but my bfs cat is like 10 years old and he has her to where she gets on your lap whenever she feels like it! But i usaully push her down or flick my finger at her before she ever makes it up!! So i guess putten them both in there kennels will be a good idea!! Thanks soo much!!

I was going to get a snake ive have been wanting one for a long time and this would be my first one- i hear that ball pythons and cornsnakes are great for beginners...

which would should i get?

i have a oppurtunity to get a red tail boa or a coastal carpet python for next to nothing and was wondering if the carpets need a taller tank instead of a longer tank? i can t decide which to get so anybody with xperience with either will you plz post ur experince with them any possible downfalls of either snake. i have more than enuff room for either snake to so thats not a problem

other eye now i think he is blind b/c my female that is mine has black eyes like they should.now his keepers told me the have to every three to four month have to pill his face plate off.now i know that is not healthy and i dont know what to do can some one help me and try to brake it down to me what is wrong with him.

I need help debugging python scripts. Help? Websites that help? Which is the best website?

My ball python just seemingly farted VERY loudly twice. Shes let out a tiny bit of clear glueish looking stuff (a rain drop amount) and in it was a tiny bit of blood. Shes never done this before and shed a few hours ago. Apart from the fart she seems fine and healthy. Has anyone else got a ball that farted?
**She got probed today - might that be a contributing factor?

does it kill the eggs? i have 2 baby goats with lice and they had it on them for about an hour and a half but they got really hot so we gave them a bath.... what should we do? did the dust work?

Can anyone give me a list of Ball python breeders?

How do I know when my baby royal python is about to shed. He seems to be getting these small dry patches on his body- but his eyes aren t cloudy like i was told wouldhappen. He also ate yesterday and i was told that they will sometimes not eat when they are close to shed.

Please let me know- and give me links to more information.

Our 2 rats were on a wire-floored cage- and I had read that they could get blisters on their feet... we ve had them for several weeks now- and they are getting blisters. I have moved them to a cage that has sawdust flooring- but a wire shelf. The blisters aren t bad yet- but there are many of them.

Question #1: Is this something to be concerned about? If so- how do we treat it?

Question #2: Is the wire shelf ok?

Question #3: Do the rats feel any pain? How much?

Question #4: I read that Bumblefoot is caused by Staph. (Site: http://exoticpets.about.com/od/careofrats/p/bumblefoot.htm) Should we be worried about getting Staph after handling the rats? If I fed these rats to my ball python- would she have a chance of getting Staph?

If you can answer any of these questions- please do! I d appreciate any personal experiance from rat owners or vets! We really love these guys- and we want them to be healthy.

Thanks in advance!!!
As a response to the subject AWS brought up- I would only feed a rat to my snake if it were in constant pain that was uncureable. And I agree that live feeding is cruel- and for months I ve been trying to get her to eat prekilled rats- but she ll only eat live. Also- she kills them very quickly; I m sure its just as humane (and a bit more natural) as euthanizing them. After all- that s what they do in the wild!

I want to display the music I am listening to on pandora in my ichat status like the itunes music option. I know some python and javascript is there anyway to edit preference files and change this or create a python program that updates my status.
I know this is a complicated question just if anyone has any experience with this kind of thing can you help me.

Stanley balled up the first time I picked him up at the reptile store- but after a few seconds he unwound and started moving around my hands and arms. I brought him home and except for one time when I picked him up out of his tank when he balled for a few seconds he doesn t ball up in his tank or when I hold him. In his tank he goes in his hide and coils around but doesn t ball up tight or anything and when I hold him he crawls around like crazy.

I ve had him for 2 days - he is due to eat tomorrow according to the reptile store- so I know he might be hungry. Also- he is farm born and raised- not wild- so he has been handled since he was hatched so I figured that was why he likes to be held.

I figured he was just a confident guy and that is why he doesn t ball up- since I thought they only did that when they were stressed or nervous but on a different questions someone implied there was something wrong with him because he was moving around so much.

Advice?

He is approx 3 months old and so far only the skin from his head has come off?

I currently own two pet snakes. One is a fully grown ball python that I got about a year and a half ago- when he was already about a year old. So he is now about two and a half or three years old. The other one is a speckled kingsnake- which I got this last Halloween. He was just a baby- probably about two or three months old when I got him. He is now about nine or ten months old I d guess.

They are both doing very well- eating regularly- and love to be handled. My question is- how long do both of these snakes live on average? I love them with all my heart and it would really hurt if one of them died soon.

My Biology teacher has one- and she said she got it at a Reptile Show for $35-$40... A hatchling...
Yet all the sites say over $1k.

I really want a Piebald Ball Python hatchlin . So I asked her how much she figured- and she said around $65. Yet the sites say $2.5k.

I m confused. And I want that friggin snake.
Ok- so- $30 - 150... Goodgood... That for the regular patterned ones?

How about Piebald?
Or Cinnamon Pastels?

i purchase a ball python around march 2008 it was hatched 2007 but dont know exact date and my ball pythons is around 1 ft and 19 inches could be few months old or a year old?

When I went to pick out Stanley (I got him from a reptile store - he is farm born and raised) he was a little go getter. He crawled right up my arm and crawled around my hands and arms while the guys were going over all his care with me- and never even balled up.

I got him home and took him out while my hubby and I set up the tank and he was curious as hell and moving all around. I put him in his tank and took him back out a few times while we were setting stuff up (My hubby was helping and he wouldn t reach into the tank with the snake in there)

I left him in there for a bit and took him out one more time and he crawled right up my arm right away and once I got stuff settled I put him back in.

Anyways- the tank was a good tempertaure and everything was all set so I went to sleep for 4 hours. Anyways I get up and came to look at him and he is hiding and won t come out. I tried to pick him up and he just curled up and wouldn t move around and was very jumpy. What changed?
I think I just woke him up- because I tried later and he came right to me and crawled up my arm and was fine. Thanks for the feedback.

My buddy s snake got loose form his cage a Burmese Python and the snake grabbed his neihgbors Chihuahua and swallowed it. Now the neighbor is suing him. Who s at fault? ???...the neighbor with a looose dog or the loose snake?
I just wanted some feed back. I personally do not have snakes and don t care for them. Me Mr. No Shoulders don t get along.

My son is s huge snake lover and has been around snakes for a long time..He knows all the ones that are dangerous and the ones that wont kill you and the names of all of them. **We used to live in the country with lots of copper heads** He wants a snake very badly and so does my husband.
We were in the pet store last night and a girl came in with a 5 foot red tail and my son loved on this snake for an hour and holding it and everything.
SO to my question are red tails the best for kids??? I have heard so many times they are the best ones to go with..that or a ball python- so which is better???

Hey :) Im thinking about getting a blood python and would be really greatful if you could tell me anything about bloods that i should know or might find useful :)
For example - the length of a full grown male/female. Your own personal thoughts on bloods etc .. Thanks :)

so i got a burmball (burm x ball python) and its a girl but i just wondering how to tell if it sterile or not. i might breed to a regular ball in a cuple of years if it proves to be breedable

no negative comments please only ones that are actually answering my question- thanx
well i have no photos due to my phone to usb cable is missing and i dont have a digital camera

i piked her up at a car boot sale last week and she is wonderful not bitten me yet but takes rat fuzzies like no tommoro- could someone also tell me the size they grow to.
it is defiantly a burmball and not any other kind of cross- i checked it up to some of the pictures on the internet of them and it matches except my burmball is a cross between a granite burm and a spider ball. i saw both parents before i bought it
here is a link to a website with some pictures of burmballs

http://www.schlangenfrank.de/bilder/diashow/index.htm

scrool down the side it will say burmball and their is some pictures

Best Place in Charleston to get a Ball Python!

I woke up one morning and noticed that my Ball Python had shedded. But another thing that I noticed was he has a raw spot on his nose/head right between the eyes. I was wondering if he did that when he was trying to shed maybe he scratched up on something too hard and what should I do for him. We have no vets around my area that deals with snakes. Thank you for your help

Hi there..

I m travelling from the northeast down to the south by train- and will have my 3 and half month old ball python with me.

Now- I know the obvious rules regarding having animals or reptiles on a train- but ignoring these rules for a bit(they don t check anyway)- how would I go about caring for my snake?

The trip will be a day and a half- and it is approximately 68 degrees out where I m currently located- and 80 degrees where I m heading.

Will just a pillow case be fine?

It will about a day and half trip.

I have no choice but to bring him with me- and I cannot find a close friend that s still around to check up on him. (Everyone s gone home.)

Thanks for answering my question. Peace.

i think if u havent watched it you need to watch it every frickin day!!!!!

Hello and thanks in advance if you answer this query.

The title speaks for itself. I want to also add:

- I know very little about programming- some C++ and Python

- I ve played a little with modding a few already existing games and could make a few things here and there

- my real talent is writing: stories- dialogs- creating concepts like: what should happen in that situation- what factors are involved there etc.

From what I ve read so far I ve figured that an engine must be created. That means using a programming language and creating it from scratch! Still- I am confused about the term "graphic engine" and the use of 3D graphics? Are they also made from scratch by a person game maker (not a program game maker- explained below)?

I know about already existing game makers- programs that allow you to easily create a game atmosphere. I ve tried a few but I don t like the limitations they bring. I want my own game- using totally my own resources!

I don t want to make a game that looks like those from the 80 s. NO- I think of something like Fable or Gothic or Elder Scrolls. That means a full 3D universe with freedom of movement and interaction- good- solid graphics too. And- yes- I ve already heard the discouraging advice "Oh- boy- forget it- such games are made by hundreds of people- you alone could never..."

I have a couple of friends that could help me. One is an amateur musician- another is an expert drawer. I think that with my writing talent- the programming I could learn and with their help we could even create a good game.

So my question would be: What should I start with? Most programming languages don t deal with making games. Is there a tutorial somewhere for people like me who want to start such a project? Are there similar people with whom I can team experience perhaps? I need some good ABC. How should I find it?

i have 2 ball python a year old with a 30 gallon tank a heating pad and a heat lamp on the left side of the tank the temp is between 82 and basking spot around 90 and on toward the right side of tank is where the log is at so they hide in it but they be there all dayy and that cool spot is around like 60-65 is that alright for them?to stay most the time there?

Which one of these carnivores is truly "top" of the food chain? Or is it the crocodile- since I believe there are some of those in the Everglades- also?
I think an alligator could handle a panther- even on land. How s the panther even going to scratch that hide?
Please so not attempt to answer the question if you have no clue about the subject. There have been countless articles in the press about Burmese pythons in the Everglades.

I know I probably shouldn t handle it- but for how long? When can I feed it? Anything else I should do or know about?
NOTE: He ALREADY SHEDDED... i m looking for information on what I should do AFTER he sheds.

i have a ball python and he weezes there isn t any fluids coming out of his nose or anything but sometimes he will well its a cross between a squeek and a weeze he is very active and eats fine should i worry? is this something that could get worse? he has been this way for about 3 months

my ball python shedded yesterday and he shedded really well and we noticed he has white speckle like patches down his back- he seems healthy and did shed all his skin and has no mites is this normal or could it be the humiditiy.
humidity is 50-60 ....60 when he was shedding.

I seems to have a lot of prophetic like dreams but most of the time I dont know the meaning. Last night I had a dream that we moved and I was going to sleep and my son was with me (or maybe my sister dont remember) and there was a whole in the ground in the middle of the room. Then while I was trying to go to sleep this huge python looking snake came out. I cried for my husband to come get it and kill it and I dont remembe rif he did or not..Then I couldnt sleep (this is my dream) and then this little bright colored green and checkerd yellow snack came on my bed. I HATE SNAKES OK@!!
The python came back into the dream so I guess my husband didnt kill it.

I have heard snakes in dreams isnt good and that its usually meaning that something bad will happen.
Here is alittle of whats going on. My dad died in nov 2006..left the family with lots of debt. We moved to a new state before he died and decided to move back to where "home" was. My mom by that time had left her teaching job and now with the economy like it is...she hasnt gotten one back. So basiclly my dad left her with debt. She moved back to cali (we all did) and now are in charge of this huge house that we can sell for what we owe on it- my mom doesnt have a job that pays enough adn no one is hiring.
So the other day she went to my dads mom (my gma) and asked if she could help. Everyone on my dads side is super rich.
Yesterday my gmas daughter called and said she wanted to talk to my mom and the house keeper said (she is our friend) that it wasnt good news.
I had the snake dream last night before I knew that her sister called and that it would be bad news. Havent heard what the news is yet...she is calling this afternoon.
