he/she is about 13-14 inches long. i know its young- less than a year- but i was wondering if someone could help me narrow it down a little more.

Let me make this simple..getting ball python soon
i have a cage
warm hide
cool hide
i have a heat mat under the warm hide..
my digital thermometer read about 98-105 degrees farenheight when i put the probe in the warm hide..but when i take out the hide and i place my hand on the paper towels..its just SLIGHTLY warm...it desnt feel like 98 or 105...why doesnt it feel warm enough if its reading high temps??
the temp in there should be at the most 95 for a ball python..what do i do other than getting a rheostat or dimmer?
is the thermometer reading the wrong temps? or what?

I m hoping to buy a snake as a pet sometime soon- but I m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the type I should get. I ve heard that garter snakes are good for starters- and they stay relatively small- which is what I m looking for (I don t have a lot of space to fill with a snake enclosure- so larger snakes aren t really an option for me). I ve also heard that ball pythons and corns snakes are good for beginners- although they tend to be larger than garters.

If anybody has any suggestions I d appreciate them!

ive never had a snake before but i love them!!
im think about a corn or a ball..
which would be easier to take care of? if i buy a ball python from a breeder at a show and the snake is captive bred..what are the chances of it not eating and what are the chances of it getting a respitory infection..
what should i go for?
i ave to tanks...should i go for 1 ball python and 1 corn?
or 2 corns?
if there is any other snaks ill find at a show that are like or as small as corns..please tell me..thank you guys!

I have a new baby pall python. Last night I found him coiled up in his water dish and then when I woke up this morning... he is still there! I know they like to do this for shedding reasons but I don t think he is shedding.. could it be that his environment is too hot?
Thanks for all of your help/suggestions. He is breathing very heavy too. Is that normal? This is my first snake so I am still learning!

colors- shapes- head anything.
