I m trying to make a program which asks for user input and tells them whether or not the number they inputed is a float- a negative float- an integer or a negative integer.

There seems to be a problem with the negative float statement. Perhaps you could help? Here s the code below:

numin = raw_input("Enter a number: ")

if numin.startswith("-") == True and numin.find(".") == True:
print "That s a negative float!"
elif numin.find(".") == True:
print "That s a positive floating point number!"
elif numin.isdigit() == True:
print "Thats a positive integer!"
elif numin.startswith("-") == True:
print "That s a negative integer!"
else:
print "Thats not even a number!"

The problem is that whenever i type in a negative float (i.e. -4.3)- all the output gives me is "That is a negative integer!"

thanks for your help!

ive had my ball python for about 5 months now. he s probably close to 2 feet long. he s in a thirty gallon tank. with a nice big water bowl he hides under- and a small little house he goes in sometimes. when i first got him he would eat a mouse every week. but then he stopped. and now he hasn t eaten for about 2 1/2 months. im really worried about him. the thing is though- he looks fine- doesnt look like he s been losing weight- and still has energy when i hold him and stuff. so it looks like he s doing fine but he just wont eat. and they say they dont eat mice in the wild which i know- but he ate mice for 2 1/2 months every week and was fine- then just stopped. and he s not shedding or anything like that. what can i do? or supposed to do?

what would i get something like a titanium sunfire reticulated pythons. what price should i ask for when selling the young?

oh and the main Q is when the snakes hatch do i just put them in a seperate enclosure and feed them or do i have to do something else with them

finally does anybody have any photos of wht the young will look like? if so please post a link to the page
and for anybody who knows absolutely nothing about snakes- both sunfires and titaniums are morphs not breeds- also it is not illegal to keep any snake as a pet you just got to provide proper living conditions and care

i know that i am supposed to wait for it to acclimate to its new home and stuff because it is stressed out in a new home. how many days should i wait to handle it? i dont want to overstress it.

I had one option up until now and that farm no longer carries chickens. Any suggestions as to where I can get live chickens or rabbits to feed my snake. Thank you

Should I be feeding him bigger prey? I gave him a large mouse. (His widest point is the size of a silver dollar)
He s cruising around the cage; is he looking for more? Should I feed him again?
He s a year and two months old.
