I recently got a ball python from a friend of mine who could no longer care for him. He is about 3 yrs old. I was around him several times before he became mine- and he was always very relaxed and loved to be handled. We brought him home Saturday. Didn t handle him at all Sunday. Fed him Monday (ate a medium rat just fine). 24 hrs later- we took him out and he was very nervous and skittish when held- but happy and relaxed exploring the floor. Another 24 hrs later- same thing. Very skittish. Tonight- I noticed his belly is pink which would say he was about to shed but he just did! In fact- he still has a small piece of skin on his head and eye caps. Could he be getting ready to shed again? Do we just need to leave him alone for several days to acclimate? I would blame the eye caps but- he had those the night I brought him home and was very calm even in the bumpy car. Any ideas as to why he is so skittish? Also tonight- instead of roaming around his cage as usual- he is in his hide.
I know that they dont soak unless they are sick..so what can be some sicknesses that cause soaking?
(At night when my ball python is exploring in his tank..he happens to come by the water bowl and leaves half of his boady in there for like a minute and moves on...hes done this 2 times the same night..it doesnt look like he does it intentionally but he just comes across the bowl and lets half his body sit there for like a minute..something to worry about?)
THANK YOU!
I just got my first ball python on saturday and he doesnt stop rubbing his nose on the glass..is it bad? how do i prevent it?
thank you

I remember him talking about such a measurement on TV as a kid. I m trying to see how I measure up today.
I measured mine -- it s only 18.5" -- I guess Hulk has a bigger python.
